Riding a motorcycle brings immense joy and freedom, but it also comes with inherent risks. Accidents can and do happen, and riders often find themselves in situations where immediate first aid response is crucial. As part of our ongoing commitment to rider well-being, we are excited to announce plans for a specialized motorcycle-centric first aid training program. This initiative aims to equip riders with essential life-saving skills while fostering a sense of community preparedness. The program will be conducted by certified American Red Cross instructors, ensuring high-quality and comprehensive training.

The training is a comprehensive, blended learning course designed to accommodate the busy schedules of riders. The program includes a 4-hour self-paced, web-based learning module followed by a 7.5-hour in-classroom skills session. This approach ensures a thorough understanding of critical first aid techniques through hands-on learning. The following subject areas are covered:

·         First Aid: Identifying and responding to common sudden illnesses such as seizures, strokes, allergic reactions, poisoning, and diabetic emergencies.

·         CPR/AED: Responding to cardiac and breathing emergencies.

·         Life-Threatening Bleeding and Tourniquet Application.

·         Head, Neck, Muscle, Bone, and Joint Injuries and Splinting.

·         Bloodborne Pathogens.

Upon completion of the training, participants will receive:

·         A 2-year First Aid CPR certification.

·         A 1-year Bloodborne Pathogen certification.

·         Free digital training material.

·         Free digital certificate.

In addition, we have partnered with New England Donor Services to present a module in the first aid training that would.

·         Encourage organ and tissue donation

·         Discuss the timing required to maximize organ viability

·         Provide an overview of the required medical history survey, demonstrate technology available to store medical history

·         How the donation process works and what to expect

Typically, this breath of training would cost over $200 per person. To make the training accessible to riders, we propose a nominal fee to attend, with the funds allocated to providing lunch during the practical exercise portion and the remaining amount to supply motorcycle trauma kits that can be positioned in dealerships or other rider gathering spots and made available for sign-out at no cost to riders.

Our decision to launch this program was deeply influenced by personal stories like that of our daughter's experience on Skyline Drive in West Virginia. Her quick thinking and medic training played a crucial role in keeping a fellow rider alive until professional help arrived. Her account highlighted the critical need for motorcycle-specific first aid resources, prompting us to take action.

In the spirit of promoting safety and preparedness within the motorcycling community, we invite corporate partners to join us in this meaningful endeavor. Your support will help fund the training programs, ensuring that riders in local communities receive high-quality, first aid education. In return, we offer sponsorship recognition and the opportunity to contribute to a safer riding experience. Together, we can empower riders with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to respond effectively in emergency situations.  Let's ride safe, ride prepared!
